William (Velvel) Morton Kahan(06/05/1933–)

图灵奖获得时间：

1989年。 第二十四位图灵奖(1989年)获得者。

图灵奖引用(Turing Award Citation) ：

For his fundamental contributions to numerical analysis. One of the foremost experts on floating-point computations. Kahan has dedicated himself to “making the world safe for numerical computations.

William M. Kahan于1933年6月5日于多伦多，加拿大。

在多伦多大学(University of Toronto: http://www.utoronto.ca) , Kahan分别于1954年，1956年，1958年，获得其数学学士，硕士和博士学位。

Kahan除了对IEEE 754浮点运算标准的巨大贡献之外，也是Kahan summation algorithm算法的发明者。可参见：
